How You Can Help
BC and Alberta Guide Dog Services is a non-profit, charitable organization. It costs approximately $37,000 to raise and train a Guide Dog, but our clients only pay a symbolic $1 for the use of their Guide Dog.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this gift you have given me[…] the ability to move through a very expanded world with confidence, dignity, and independence." — Grete, Guide Dog user
Approximately 95% of our funding comes from individual donations, sponsorships, gifts, and bequests. We are very grateful for the generosity of corporations, foundations, service clubs, and private individuals. We receive government grants through the BC Gaming Commission and Alberta's Community Spirit fund, when these funds are available.
Your support is very important to us, and allows us to continue providing professionally-trained guide dogs for our blind and visually-impaired youth and adult clients.
There are many ways in which you can support our mission including:
- Sponsoring a puppy
- Making a donation
- Raising a puppy
- Boarding a dog
- Attending one of our events
- Organizing your own fundraiser to support our services.
Learning how to properly behave around a Guide Dog and telling your friends and family about BC and Alberta Guide Dog Services are also great ways to help guide dog users in your community!
If you so choose, you can use the CanadaHelps link to donate online. CanadaHelps is a registered charity (charitable number 896568417RR0001) with a mission to provide secure, low-cost online donation technology to donors and the Canadian charities they support.
Thank you for sharing our vision!
