OUR GUIDE DOG AWARENESS DVD
In a perfect world, there would be no discrimination against anyone…including those who use guide dogs to getaround. Sadly, this is not the case. There are still instances where various establishments, businesses and public transit refuse to allow access to guide dog teams.
It was for this reason that BC & Alberta Guide Dogs, with the generous support of The Calgary Foundation, produced this 30 second DVD. Glenn Murphy and his guide dog Simba were most kind in being the "talent" for this commercial. It was interesting that neither of them had had any previous acting experience but both were naturals in front of the camera, with Simba quickly learning what his "cues" were and not even waiting for the verbal command to walk.
Click the button and view it for yourself. We are happy to report that this DVD has aired on TV stations throughout Alberta, a number of stations in B.C. and even been picked up by several stations in the US.
The awareness is bringing this problem to light and hopefully will help to make such discrimination a thing of the past. Special thanks to Glenn Murphy, Simba and the wonderful people at The Calgary Foundation.
